NIH grant H113A011403 was awarded to Kessler Medical to develop a searchable Research and Publications registry - the award was a 5-year, multi-million dollar grant. I was contracted to do the PHP coding and MySQL database programming for this project.
The Registry included a secure login with a multi-tiered role checking for logged in users, full rollback of all changes made to projects and publications (in MySQL, which lacked a rollback utility at the time of coding), a complex approval process of new and edited users, projects, and publications, XML data exports (RSS and otherwise) and imports from the National Library of Medicine, full activity logging, communication forms to get people in contact with investigators, static page generation of the entire site for optimal google and Atomz indexing, and a custom-coded string data import/export utility that moved ProCite citations into and out of the registry. The end result was a fully functional and scalable Content Management System usable by the NIH National Data Center delivered a full three years ahead of schedule.
